Bass Clef Announce live dates in 2007
Share This
Blank Tapes are proud to announce the debut release by Bass Clef, aka RLF, aka Ralph Cumbers. Hailing, unsurprisingly, from Hackney, the Bass Clef sound is an ingenious hybrid of contemporary and retro dub-styles seen through the eyes of an IDM connoisseur. The resulting fusion being neither one nor the other, instead a fresh, mesmorizing cacophony of foot-tapping grooves.
Beginning his musical career as RLF, Ralph had a handful of releases on Bristol labels Hombre and Sink & Stove, before a couple of 10″s on the now defunct XL subsidery, Rex. As well as supporting the likes of The Bug, Andrea Parker, mum, Luke Vibert and Andy Votel.
This three track EP is the first of a series of releases for Blank Tapes by Bass Clef, with the second, the debut album, following closely in late 2006 and more to follow in 2007.
A marked departure from the first Blank Tapes release, these tracks are a succinct summation of the ethos under which the label operates.
