2 DAYS * 90 ARTISTS * 15 VENUES
FREE DBL CD PROGRAMME * AFTERSHOW PARTIES & DJS
DAYTIME ACTIVITIES & PERFORMANCES
1 ALL-ACCESS TICKET * CAMDEN TOWN
Off the back of two sold out years, London’s annual promenade of the best in cutting edge British and International music expands to a new format this April. An event billed by the NME as “the unofficial start of the Festival Season” and established as an essential appointment in the live music connoisseur’s diary, the 2007 Crawl brings together a diverse line up of 90 of the most exciting new talents performing throughout 15 central Camden venues over 2 days.
Kicking off at noon each day the extra hours promise a varied host of new events ranging from acoustic & impromptu live performances and panel led fan forums to pop quizzes and rock ‘n’ roll walking tours leading into each evening’s unique showcase of new artists, DJs and surprise guests and continuing into the wee hours with club nights and after show parties.
This year 40 artists will appear on both the 19th and 20th, giving festival goers a second chance to catch the hottest new acts they may have missed due to line up clashes and venue capacity limitations. Fifty additional acts will perform one-off shows on each of the days.
Upon arrival, each ‘Crawler’ is presented with an all-access wristband and double CD programme featuring a track by each artist performing across both days of the event as well as guide map and timetable for the evening’s proceedings. In keeping with the exploratory spirit and musical democracy of past Crawls, the full line-ups and stage times remain a closely guarded secret until each night. Surprise guests may appear at any time or any venue, so festival-goers are advised to arrive early.
History…
Prior to the sold out events in 2005 and 2006, London’s Camden Town hosted the event for three consecutive years (1995 - 1997).
The Crawl brought together a huge line up of inventive new bands and established artists with an aim to support the development of new music in Britain through the aesthetic quality of the bill, a low cost ticket for music fans and by building a sense of camaraderie with the equal billing of artists. These now legendary historic Crawls featured early performances by Snow Patrol, Beth Orton, Mogwai and such luminaries as Echo and the Bunnymen, Moby, Tanya Donnelly and the venerable Wedding Present.
The re-inauguration event in 2005 and subsequent 2006 Crawl showcased early performances by then rising talents who went on to make a significant impression on these shores.
These artists include:, The Magic Numbers, Hard-Fi, Maximo Park, The Subways, Kooks, Mystery Jets, The Cribs, Hope Of The States, Hot Chip, Nine Black Alps, Secret Machines, Sway, The Fratellis, Klaxons, The Automatic, Paolo Nutini, Guillemots, Plan B, The Pipettes, Lethal Bizzle, Dirty Pretty Things and many more….
Influential established artists such as Graham Coxon, Andrew Weatherall, Le Tigre and Supergrass also made an appearance alongside seminal heroes Buzzcocks and The Slits.
