Iain Archer single news, tour dates and video

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

Highly acclaimed, Ivor Novello award winning songwriter, Iain Archer releases a new single Minus Ten through PIAS / Wall Of Sound’s We Love You imprint on Monday March 19th.

Minus Ten is taken from Archer’s latest album Magnetic North, which garnered much critical applause on its release in October. Q Magazine enthused “Archer has a catch to his voice that makes it sound like he cares desperately about every last word.” Mojo raved “Upbeat indie pop gems - evocative, windswept romantic in the Sufjan Stevens mould.” And Uncut added “Bracingly dolorous fingerpicking songcraft - a record that’s bravely unsentimental in worrying at emotional and political troubles.”

Snow Patrol tour cancelled

tagged , , , , , and

Snow Patrol have been forced to postpone the remainder of their North American tour because frontman Gary Lightbody is having trouble with polyps on his vocal chords. A number of shows had already been cancelled, but organisers hoped that the singer would recover in time for at least some of the dates, but Lightbody has now been advised to rest his voice until mid-July. The tour was set to finish on 27 June in New York, but the dates will all be rescheduled for September.

In a recent post on the snow patrol website, Lightbody wrote: “It is completely my fault for not taking better care of my voice. The voice is an instrument and I should learn to take care of it as such. When I have it back and working again I won’t take it for granted anymore.”
